Relaxing in Mexico

When I decided to start saving for my first house it was one of those moments where as an adult it felt like being a child again. You cant have everything my mother always used to say. I knew that meant I couldn't keep booking holidays to far away places like I had in the past.
Being a traveller at heart I guess I knew it would be difficult, but needs must if you want to go forward. When my parents suggested just having one holiday, but perhaps a more luxurious one it seemed like the right decision. It gave me something to look forward to whilst still being able to save much needed funds towards a house. The next thing I knew we were booked on a holiday to Mexico, Playa Mujeres.

On the 17th June we flew out to Mexico with Virgin Atlantic, I've always loved Virgin flights since the first time we used them for Florida. It really is an all inclusive flight, from drinks to meals, ice creams and you even get a menu for dinner, we flew long distance so lunch and dinner were included. I couldn't wait to get to sunnier climates though after all the rain we had had in England.

The hotel we had chosen was the Finest Playa Mujeres, situated next door to its Exclusive adults only Excellence Playa Mujeres. The hotel was very luxurious, there was absolutely nothing you could want for, with the deal we had booked we were upgraded from a standard double to a Finest Club Two-Story roof top terrace suite with Private plunge pool. I think ill let the pictures tell the story of our holiday, its by far the most gorgeous hotel I have ever stayed in, and the biggest perk, everything in the mini bar is free and restocked daily... including the four full size spirit bottles.

The hotel itself boasts twelve restaurants all of different varieties, I am a big foody lover so it seemed only right, being on holiday and all, to try as many as possible! (In photo order - The Burger Truck | Legends Sports Bar | Le Petit Plaisir x2 | Brass Steak House | Shoji Asian Dining x2 | Piano Bar x2 | Insieme Trattoria | Dukes Lobster & Seafood) My favourite the Bistro is missing from the pictures but they served THE best breakfasts.

There are pools and bars everywhere, sports are offered all day long as well as classes and show cooking. The hotel has its own full sized gym and One Spa for total relaxation and also a water sports programme too which are all included in the All Inclusive.

There is a show every night and after that you can dance the night away at one of the many bars. There are plenty of places to go if you require something a little more active and the reps have alot to offer. We decided to do the CoCo Bongos night time show in Cancun, I would highly recommend it. Its worth paying the extra and going VIP to ensure a seat and a waiter upstairs, your drinks are all included in the price of the VIP ticket too. I wouldn't have wanted to be stood downstairs it can get VERY hot and VERY crowded.

The big question, would I recommend or stay here again? Your damn right I would, this hotel is perfect for a break away from it all. It offers pure relaxation (right down to not even having to put your own towel on a lounger) the staff literally cannot do enough for you, they are extremely helpful and always on hand to help out.

Are you planning a trip to Mexico? Or a holiday anywhere? Keep me posted, I love inspiration!
