BLOGMAS #3 | UK CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Every year when the Christmas markets start, me and Katie make our annual trip to Nottingham to peruse the shops and visit the Christmas Market held in the city's square. It’s pretty much guaranteed we will purchase a Cadburys Hot Chocolate from one of the stalls mainly because it comes packed with all the toppings and flavourings!

In the past I have visited some of the other city markets at Christmas around the country, including the Liverpool and Manchester markets as well as Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland. I thought I'd share with you some of the other markets available around the UK, as well as some helpful information about each one just in case you fancy a day out.

1| Bath Christmas Market

Located in the center of this historic town designated as a UNESCO world heritage site, Bath Christmas market is one of the highlights of the year. The market runs from November 23rd – December 10th 2017 daily. It hosts over 200 chalets selling a variety of artwork, decorations, jewelry and home wares. Among the many stalls there are also a variety of food and drink stalls.

2| Birmingham German Christmas Market

Again located in the centre of Birmingham, the Christmas market has a German theme. Selling festive decorations, clothing and toys as well as German delicacy’s including Schnitzel, Pretzels and Crepes. The market opened on the 16th November and runs until December 24th daily.

3| Manchester Christmas Market

The main market hub for Manchester is again situated in Albert Square in front of the town hall and opened on November 10th. This year the wooden stalls will remain open an extra day and will close on December 21st. Alongside the Christmas stall chalets, Manchester also hosts an outdoor ice skating rink.

4| Nottingham Winter Wonderland

As I said above this is my local Christmas Market and I have already visited this year actually. The lights and the stalls are all beautifully set up again and the Helter Skelter takes center stage with its very own bar. You can purchase tickets for the Ice Bar and the Ice skating rink or simply visit the new Sur La Piste two storey bar. The Market opened on November 17th and ends on December 24th and is open daily.

5| Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Arguably the best Christmas Market in the UK and the biggest, this is a wonder to be seen. I visited last year and have already booked to go again this year (keep your eyes peeled for a post of its very own). There are stalls, huge bars and restaurants and amazing rides, the true size of it is unbelievable until you have seen it with your own eyes. I was amazed at how big the attractions actually were for something that’s only there for so many days of the year. There are bookable attractions including the Magical Ice Kingdom Adventure, the Ice Bar, Ice Skating, various shows and even a giant observation wheel. Located obviously in Hyde Park this is one of my favourite places to go at Christmas. The winter wonderland runs from November 17th – January 1st allowing plenty of time to visit.

If you've experienced these or any others please pop a comment below about how good they are!
